Pre-construction meetings set for US 41/Main Avenue interchange in De Pere
Details of 2012 construction schedule to be discussed
(Green Bay) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region office is holding a final public information meeting to talk about upcoming construction, road closures and alternate route options for the Main Avenue interchange project in Brown County. The open house meeting is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at St. Norbert College, F.K. Bemis Conference Center – Room 114 (ABCD), 299 3rd Street, De Pere. A brief presentation begins at 5:45 p.m.  A business-only outreach session is scheduled from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the same location, with a brief presentation at 7:45 a.m. 
The Main Avenue interchange project includes multiple features to enhance safety and traffic flow. Improvements include: 
Reconstruction of the Main Avenue interchange ramps 
Construction of two roundabouts on Main Avenue at the US 41 ramp terminals
Installation of bicycle and pedestrian accommodations along Main Avenue from Lawrence Drive through the southbound US 41 ramp terminal
Expansion and reconstruction of US 41 from Orange Lane to Glory Road
Construction at the Main Avenue interchange is scheduled to begin March 5, followed by the closure of the southbound on-ramp to US 41 (ramp will not close earlier than March 12). Main Avenue under US 41 will remain open with one lane of traffic in each direction. The entire interchange and Main Avenue beneath US 41 is CLOSED to traffic for 60 days between August and November. 
At the meetings, WisDOT will provide details about the construction, impacts to residents and businesses, and present information about business signage to make sure customers find their way through work zones. The public and businesses are encouraged to attend and ask questions.
