Mason Street overpass demolition start times changing as of tonight
Changes mean earlier starts to full-freeway closures on US 41
(Green Bay) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region is announcing the start times for the demolition of the Mason Street bridge over US 41 in Brown County have been changed.
The contractor is being allowed to begin work earlier than previously announced, because of lower than expected traffic volumes on US 41 during evening hours. This change means the starting times for the full-lane closures on US 41 at Mason Street are also being adjusted. The demolition project requires the complete closure of northbound and southbound US 41 at Mason Street while the overpass is removed.
Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes.
Dates and times of full-freeway closures and overpass demolition are as follows:
• Thursday, Feb. 2 – Friday, Feb. 3
o 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Friday, Feb. 3 – Saturday, Feb. 4
o 9:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• Monday, Feb. 6 – Tuesday, Feb. 7
o 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Tuesday, Feb. 7 – Wednesday, Feb. 8
o 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
All other details of the demolition remain the same. US 41 traffic will be detoured up the off-ramps of the Mason Street interchange and directed back to the freeway using the US 41 on-ramps from Mason Street. Northbound and southbound US 41 will be reduced to one traffic lane between Lombardi Avenue and WIS 29 during demolition. A detour for WIS 54 has been posted using WIS 172 and I-43 for regional and truck traffic
All lane restrictions are weather dependent and subject to change.
