Meetings set to discuss US 41/WIS 21 interchange in Winnebago County
Interchange in Oshkosh closes to traffic for reconstruction March 19
(Green Bay) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region office is holding a final public information meeting to talk about upcoming construction, road closures and alternate route options for the WIS 21 interchange reconstruction project in Oshkosh.  The open house meeting is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Winnebago County Highway Department, 901 West County Y, Oshkosh. A brief presentation begins at 5:15 p.m. A business-only meeting is from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the same location, with a brief presentation at 12:15 p.m.
The WIS 21 interchange is being reconstructed in 2012, so that WIS 21 passes over US 41. The project includes the construction of four roundabouts on WIS 21 at the US 41 ramp terminals and intersections with Washburn and Koeller streets. Construction is staged to enhance safety and minimize travel delay. Staging includes temporary pavement widening and a temporary US 41 bypass at WIS 21 to allow for two travel lanes in each direction during construction.
Details of 2012 construction - starting March 19 - include:
All access to and from US 41 at WIS 21 shuts to traffic through Nov. 15 
WIS 21 closes to all motorists between Washburn and Koeller streets. The new roundabouts on WIS 21 at the intersections of Washburn and Koeller streets are scheduled to open to traffic by June 18
The WIS 21 interchange is scheduled to reopen by Nov. 15
Posted detour is WIS 21 to WIS 49 in Berlin to WIS 91 to WIS 44 to US 41
This project will affect travel in the Oshkosh area. WisDOT encourages the public and business owners to attend to learn more about the upcoming construction and to ask questions.
