County RK in Brown County opens to traffic Wednesday, November 23
Newly constructed frontage road connects County J to Packerland Drive
(Green Bay) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region is announcing the new County RK (south frontage road) running along WIS 29 from County J to Packerland Drive, opens to motorists by midnight Wednesday, November 23. The road is part of a $13.6 million project, which includes the construction of a new County J underpass at WIS 29 and a single-lane roundabout at the County J/RK intersection. The County J underpass and roadway north of the roundabout remain under construction and will open to motorists in January 2012.
Work on the project started at the end of May as crews began constructing County RK from Packerland Drive to County J. A new bridge was built crossing Duck Creek, along with two new bridges carrying WIS 29 traffic over County J. The entrance to Pamperin Park moved from Shawano Avenue to County RK in mid-September. To minimize impacts to nearby homes, a noise barrier was installed between the new Pamperin Park entrance and Parkside Court neighborhood.
Access under WIS 29 on County J opens in January 2012. However, additional work is scheduled for spring. County J between Village Green Golf Course and Riverview Drive will close for approximately six weeks to complete construction.
Please use extreme caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
All schedules are weather dependent and subject to change.
